Linen Hire vs. Doing Your Own Laundry: The Real Cost
By Carl McGlasson· Founder, Cumbria Bright ·

Every holiday-let owner hits the same wall: the linen. Two bedrooms means eight-plus items of bedding a week, plus towels, plus bath mats — and a domestic machine that was never designed for hospitality turnaround.
The domestic machine problem
A standard wash-dry-iron cycle for a two-bed property’s linen takes the better part of a day. On a Saturday changeover, that day doesn’t exist. Owners end up buying second and third linen sets, storing them, and ironing at midnight — or accepting creased bedding that guests notice.
Guests don’t review “the sheets were clean”. They review “the bed felt like a hotel”. Pressed linen is most of that feeling.
How linen support works with us
Through our sister company Zippy Bright, linen comes off the bed and goes straight into a hospitality laundry stream — washed, pressed and back in rotation without touching your machine. Changeovers stop depending on whether the tumble dryer finished in time.
What to ask any linen provider
- Turnaround time in peak season, not January
- Whether pressing is included or extra
- What happens when a guest damages an item
- Whether they coordinate directly with your cleaning team (we do)
